He is young, kind, and calm, yet energetic. He is currently the president of the Students Executive Board. Majoring in the English literature department, Robinda is a second-year student. His sweet nickname is Binda. Some friends often compare him to Robin or Rob for his nickname. However, he never minds it since it shows how people recognise him.
Further, how people recognise or accept someone may imply certain impressions, which may be good or bad. It then inspires Binda to promote a good personality that will spread positivity to others. For him, being a good person is easy and simple as he always motivates himself to volunteer in any social activities. He likes sharing food with scavengers, beggars, Pedi cab drivers, the homeless, and orphans. He has been doing it with his peers since 2019.
“When a natural disaster strikes an area, my volunteer community friends and I immediately ask for donations at crossroads, squares, and public spaces crowded with people. I even went directly to the disaster site to deliver the needs of the people affected by the disaster,” said Robinda.
Being a volunteer requires to have interaction with other people. He must adapt quickly to people he meets for the first time. “This was fun and challenging because I usually like to be quiet and only become a reliable listener. But with that, I became more active in talking and made many friends,” added him. Besides, being a volunteer will continuously stir his emotions. He will drop his tears when people look sad and burdened, or vice versa.
The memorable experience of becoming a volunteer was when he had to accompany a toddler who suffered from a leaky heart. The toddler’s parents could not pay the hospital, so he asked for a donation from his community to help them. At times, he had to take the kid home from the doctor. Unluckily, the kid died; tears remained in the parents and people, including him.
Above all, being a volunteer teaches him that life is beautiful with all the sadness and happiness it shares. Even feeling grateful for any condition is not enough. When helping others makes us happy, it will make our life graced and blessed. (Zia)
