Bintang and her Shining Leadership Skill

No one lives but with a name. It will differentiate B from D, Romeo from Paris, and Montague from Capulet. A name signifies an individual from others. It implies parents’ hopes for their children. When one is named “Rose”, her parents may wish she will become a beautiful, kind, and lovable woman. When one has the name Bintang (star), she may be hoped to be a star of life, giving light to every life. And it is a beautiful name.

Bintang Adde Harki Putri is a girl with a shining name. Not is it as light as a star, but as big and sparkling as a star. Bintang is currently a fourth-year English literature student and has been the President of the Student Executive Board of the Faculty of Cultural Sciences and Communication in 2021.

During her leadership, the organisation has attained many achievements that can be seen from the quantity and quality of the events and students’ involvement. Sastravaganza and English Nite were two successful events she held with her compartments, besides the other routine programmes. These achievements certainly mark her brilliant leadership among other students.

“It is all about a sense of trust and responsibility. Believe in yourself and your team. Be responsible for the trust put on you”, Bintang said. In her opinion, having a sense of responsibility is enough to be one of her reminders to act as a leader and be grateful for every success or failure.

Leadership plays a big role in her life. It particularly trains her to manage time, take opportunities and do useful things, so they are in the right portion. It also teaches her to work in a team, be responsible, and cooperate with others so that she can grow into a useful human being. In short, it all leads her to be wiser and more mature in every step and decision she makes.

In her last view, improving leadership skills is essential. For her, it can be done by cultivating a sense of discipline, being sensitive to what is happening and analyzing things that need solutions, increasing relationships and discussions, learning to find motivation from inside ourselves and becoming an inspirational person. Therefore, being a shining leader is not only a dream since everyone can make it with all self-traits they have and the training they do. No wonder she is a star as her name. (Zia)
