When This Rain Stops
“When This Rain Stops” is a slow-tempo ballad song that sung by Red Velvet Wendy. It is one of the double title tracks from Wendy’s debut album, Like Water. The opening of this song starts with a soft piano melody that gives you calm and warm feelings. Its lyrics contain a vulnerable confession “There are so many days, when I feel alone”, depicts how sometimes she feels alone. With confidence in her voice that grows stronger as the song progresses, the feeling gets more emotional, “I want to tell myself, and everything that I have. It is okay to sometimes stop like this and take a rest”. The lyrics of this song tell about the feelings of loneliness and being in a dark place while acknowledging that many people feel this way.
As I saw how Wendy sang it with all her heart, she herself shared at a press conference for this mini-album, “It has a special place in my heart because it contains my story”, she said. She hopes this song can be a comfort for the people and able to stop the rain in their hearts. However, the song’s primary message is that it is okay to take a rest and know that one day hardships will be passed as time goes by.
Over all, the songs on this album will bring you to a peaceful state of mind, like quietly closing your eyes under the bright blue sky on a sunny day or lying comfortably in your room. Therefore, it is recommended to listen to “When This Rain Stops”.
